Nooma Privacy Policy
Nooma ("Nooma", "we", "us") is a mindful breathing and yoga app for iPhone and Apple Watch. This policy describes what information the app handles and how. Nooma is built and operated as a small independent project by Kareem Asfoor.
Short version
- Your breathing sessions, mood entries, settings, and streak data are stored only on your device.
- Nooma has no backend server and no Nooma user account.
- Your Mindful Minutes can be saved to Apple Health if you allow it. That data stays in Apple Health on your device and never reaches us.
- If you watch ads (the free tier), Google AdMob may collect device identifiers to serve relevant ads, subject to your iOS App Tracking choice.
- If you buy Nooma Premium, the purchase is processed by Apple — we never see your payment details.
Data Nooma stores on your device
Everything Nooma records about you stays in local app storage (UserDefaults) on the device you're using. We never copy it off the device.
| Data | Stored where | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Completed sessions, cycle counts, dates | On-device | Until you delete the app |
| Mood entries and notes | On-device | Until you delete the app |
| Streak counters, weekly counts | On-device | Until you delete the app |
| Selected voice, reminder times, theme | On-device | Until you delete the app |
Deleting Nooma removes all of this. There is no "delete my account" request to file because there is no account.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
If you enable Apple Health in Nooma's Profile screen, the app:
- Reads your Mindful Minutes so it can show your progress in-app.
- Writes Mindful Minutes for each session you complete inside Nooma.
This data is managed entirely by Apple Health on your device. It never reaches Nooma's developer. You can revoke either permission any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Nooma.
Apple Watch
If you use the Nooma Watch app and finish a session on the watch, the watch hands the session to your paired iPhone over Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. The data is then logged locally and (optionally) to Apple Health, exactly the same way as a session you started on the phone. Nothing is transmitted to a server.
In-app purchases
Nooma Premium is sold as a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase processed by Apple through StoreKit. Apple handles billing, restores, and refunds. Nooma:
- Knows whether you currently own the premium entitlement (so it can unlock content and hide ads).
- Does not see your name, email, payment method, billing address, or any other Apple account information.
If you want to manage or cancel a purchase, go to iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions (or contact Apple Support).
Ads (free tier)
Nooma's free tier shows ads served by Google AdMob. To do this, the AdMob SDK runs on your device and may collect:
- Device identifiers (the Apple "advertising identifier" / IDFA, if you authorize tracking)
- Device type, OS version, language, approximate region
- Diagnostic data the SDK needs to deliver and measure ads
App Tracking Transparency. On first launch we ask Apple's standard "Allow this app to track your activity" dialog. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", AdMob serves only non-personalized contextual ads. If you allow tracking, AdMob may serve personalized ads.
Google's collection and use of this data is governed by Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
You can change your tracking choice any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Nooma.
Premium users do not see ads and the AdMob SDK does not request them.
What Nooma's developer does not do
- We don't run a server, so we don't store your data anywhere.
- We don't sell or share your data with third parties (other than the AdMob behavior described above).
- We don't have analytics tied to your identity. We don't know who you are.
- We don't profile children. Nooma is rated 4+.
- We don't send marketing email — we don't have your email.
Children
Nooma is rated 4+ and is suitable for general audiences. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes materially, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of Nooma after a change means you accept it.
